Live Earth: Al Gore’s Global Party

As reported previously by the Gossip Girls, the series of Live Earth concerts across seven continents got started off with a bang yesterday (July 7).  Just 24 hours later, the global party has come to an end - but the hope is that the event’s message will live on for quite some time to come.

Live Earth was organized by former Vice President Al Gore with the goal of raising awareness about global warming. With over 100 musical acts joining in on the cause, the entertainers played to the crowds - with many offering up messages to the over 2 billion people expected to experience the shows through television, radio and the Internet.

Princess Diana Tribute Concert Brings Out The Stars

If you happened to be in England this past weekend, you may have noticed a huge freaking concert going on at Wembley Stadium.  It was all to honor the late Princess Diana, and her two princes were among the spectators celebrating her life.

Well-known Diana friend Elton John opened the whole shindig with a rousing rendition of “Your Song” followed by a personal greeting from Princes William and Harry.  The 70,000 fans in attendance, and the over 500 million people watching worldwide, were ready to rock.

MuchMusic Awards: A Canadian Party

Those crazy Canadians sure can throw a party!  With celebrity appearances by Avil Lavigne, Hilary Duff, Tara Reid, Joss Stone and Fergie, the MuchMusic Video Awards was a star-studded event.

Unlike most awards shows, the MuchMusic Video Awards took place outdoors, in a carnival-esque atmosphere.  The stages were lined with fans waiting to get a glimpse of Maroon 5, Sum 41, and Canadian sweetheart Avril Lavigne.

New York Loves Joss Stone

Some of the coolest things about being in New York City in the summertime are the concerts held in Central Park.  Each year, the city puts on a series of special events called SummerStage that includes local acts and national touring talent.  This past weekend, Joss Stone graced the SummerStage.

The 20-year-old English crooner wowed audiences with her mature beyond her years voice and stage presence.  Always the consummate performer, Stone brought her A-game and put on a show that beckoned the spirits of Aretha Franklin and Al Green.

Things haven’t been easy for Joss Stone as of late.  First, she is the butt of many jokes regarding her Brit Awards appearance/speech.  Then Dallas Austin accuses her of sleeping with producers to get her tracks.  Now her crush doesn’t even know who she is.  Poor Joss!

Joss Stone has a huge crush on goth rocker Jared Leto.  Leto rose to fame back in the 1990s with his role on “My So-Called Life.” Heck, 10 years ago, he was one of People Magazine’s 50 most beautiful people.  He has appeared in films like “Requiem For A Dream,” “Fight Club,” and “Alexander.”
