Vanessa Paradis Attends Paris’ Tree Lighting Ceremony

If you happen to live in Paris, you know that each and every year there is a holiday celebration at the Champs-Elysees.  And this year’s tree-lighting ceremony got a visit from French singer/actress Vanessa Paradis.

For the festivities, 415 trees were draped with a total of 30,000 long glass strips to create the effect of lights dripping off the branches. The new eco-friendly bulbs used in the display promise to provide eight times the twinkle, while cutting the bill by 70%.

Johnny Depp Honors Tim Burton

The Venice Film Festival is such a momentous occasion.  And this year, Tim Burton was awarded a career Golden Lion award for his accomplishments in film.

Most appropriately, Johnny Depp, a frequent leading man in Burton’s films, was chosen to present the director with his award.  He told press, “It’s a very big honor to present Tim with this award.  He is my favorite director and a very close friend.”

2007 Teen Choice Awards Honor Best In Entertainment

Last night was a big deal for many celebrities.  The Fox Network held their annual Teen Choice Awards at Universal Studios in Hollywood, and passed out life-size surfboards in lieu of statuettes.  Hilary Duff and Nick Cannon shared the hosting duties.

The big winners of the night included “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” with a win in the Choice Movie: Action Adventure category.  Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Bill Nighy also received surfboards.

Depp Takes On “The Rum Diary”

After playing the role of an extremely drunk Captain Jack Sparrow, often induced by rum (Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy), Johnny Depp has chosen to take on The Rum Diary. While not the swashbuckling action plot seen in Pirates of the Caribbean, The Rum Diary gives Depp the opportunity to revisit some personal history.

Depp was first cast for the role of Thompson in The Rum Diary back in 2000, when the casting list called for Nick Nolte to co-star with Johnny. The story line revolved around a journalist’s tale of adventure as he travels from New York to a newspaper in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?  Maybe not, as is the case with Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis’ longtime relationship.  Insiders are speculating that they may take the plunge into marital bliss soon.

The 44-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star may be reconsidering marriage again.  He was wed once before, in 1983 to Lori Anne Allison, and proposed to Jennifer Grey, Winona Ryder, and Kate Moss over the years.  But he never revisited the wedding altar.
