Jessica Simpson and John Mayer Call It Quits

According to the latest reports from People magazine, the love affair between singers Jessica Simpson and John Mayer has come to an abrupt end. This comes only a few days after Jessica’s father, Joe Simpson, gushed over how much he liked his daughter’s latest beau.

Whether or not this latest separation will be long-lasting or not is still up in the air, with People’s source mentioning, “They have broken up, but they have broken up and gotten back together at least ten times before.”

Cannes Film Festival Opens In Style

In the film industry there’s the fluff of red carpet premiers, and then there’s the serious stuff like the Cannes Film Festival.  Cannes is where the real artists go to be recognized among peers of genius.  Yesterday (Thursday) marked the 60th birthday of the festival, which opened on the French Riviera.

Music is big in Cannes this year. One of the most talked-about films so far is “Control”, a biopic about the life and premature death of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis. Sam Riley’s performance as the tragic singer is superb, as is Samantha Morton as his wife. If ever you want a reminder of how the rock’n’roll life can turn around and devour you, this is it.

Jessica Simpson’s Dad: Big Fan of John Mayer

John Mayer has won over Joe Simpson.  Although he didn’t have a lot to live up to, being that Papa Joe didn’t really like Jess’ ex-husband, Nick Lachey.  “Everybody thought, including my father, that my marriage to Nick would kill my career,” Jessica told 20/20 in 2004, a year before she and Lachey separated.

So it’s green lights all the way for Jessica and John.  “If Jessica is in love, I love the things she is in love with,” Joe Simpson, 49, told People magazine of Mayer at the Entertainment Weekly upfront party at The Box in New York City on Tuesday.

Oops! John Mayer Mistakes Jessica For Ashlee

Guys can be dumb and most of them will actually admit it.  For instance John Mayer, the current arm candy of Jessica Simpson, certainly put his foot in his mouth when he mixed up Jess for her sister Ashlee.

Jessica Simpson was furious when Mayer spotted Ashlee on a magazine cover and thought it was Jess.  He allegedly pointed to the picture of Ashlee and asked, “How old is this picture of you?” Mayer may have been confused because of Jess’ recent morph from blonde to brunette.

Jessica and Vanessa Battle Over Another Man!

Recent rumors indicate that Jessica Simpson and Vanessa Minnillo are feuding over a man other than Nick Lachey. Who’s the new object off the two starlets’ attenttion? Hairdresser Ken Paves, of course.

Ken has been Jessica’s stylist for quite some time, but recently Vanessa has been courting him to work on her locks. While Simpson let Minnillo have Lachey, she’s not taking the intrusion on her hairdresser quite so lightly.
