Ellen DeGeneres Set To Host Academy Awards

It’s been announced that Ellen DeGeneres will be the host of the upcoming Academy Awards, making her the second female to host the event on her own, only behind Whoopi Goldberg.

Ellen, who is currently in a relationship with Portia de Rossi, seems to many to be a ‘safe’ choice by the Academy. She’s known to be easy going, a little dry and self-deprecating, which is a dramatic turn from the last two hosts – Jon Stewart and Chris Rock, both who are known for being risky and abrasive.

Christina Aguilera Talks Naked With Ellen DeGeneres

Christina Aguilera had an interesting interview that is set to air February 8th in the US on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. From an ap news release, it appears as if Christina has no problem showing skin.... especially on weekends with her music executive husband, Jordan Bratman.

“We claim ourselves to be the coziest couple ever. We have something called ‘naked Sundays’,” the 26-year-old pop star told Ellen.

“You have to keep marriage alive, spice it up,” the singer advised.

He had me hooked until the dancers started appearing during the chorus’—they looked to me as if they were having epilectic seizures.

Kevin’s performance was so much better than previously. I kind of like the whole hip hop mixed with a little bit of rock ‘n roll that he’s doing.  He needs CHICKS as his back-up dancers. Not skanky ones though like you see in a lot of the hip hop videos. He needs a couple of classy chicks… and a couple girl back up singers to help on the chorus would be a nice touch.

Ellen DeGeneres to host 2007 Academy Awards

Ellen DeGeneres has been chosen to host the 79th Academy Awards next year. The ceremony will be held Feb. 25, at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

DeGeneres said that she was “thrilled” about being selected. “There’s two things I’ve always wanted to do in my life. One is to host the Oscars. The second is to get a call from Laura Ziskin. You can imagine that day’s diary entry.”

Ellen Degeneres, Portia de Rossi in Drunk Driving Accident

TV talk host Ellen Degeneres and her girlfriend, actress Portia de Rossi, were not seriously hurt in a three-car collision in Los Angeles.

“She (Degeneres) had a little neck and back pain but it doesn’t look like it was anything serious,” Los Angeles Police Sgt. Ken Buscarino said of the Friday accident.

Degeneres apparently had stopped her black 2006 Porsche Carrera at a light and was being closely followed by a 2002 Buick Le Sabre with two men in their 20s, the New York Post reported Saturday. Meanwhile, a third vehicle, another Porsche Carrera, slammed into the back of the Buick, which in a domino effect, hit Degeneres’ vehicle. The driver of the other Porsche was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving, the newspaper said.

None of the drivers or passengers sought hospital treatment for their minor injuries.

UPDATE: The driver of the other Porche says she wasn’t drunk. AND the guys in the Buick were paparazzi (of course!).  TMZ has an exclusive video (of course!) of the ordeal.
