Ellen DeGeneres is getting ready to be a “great judge” on American Idol and is letting producers know that they made the right choice including her.

“Apparently, there’s a lot of debate going on right now, whether I’m qualified or not to be the new judge on American Idol,” Ellen says on Tuesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Paula Abdul Takes a Friendly Shot at Ellen DeGeneres

Taking over the hosting duties of the VH1 Divas Live concert last night (September 17), Paula Abdul poked a little fun at her “American Idol” replacement Ellen DeGeneres.

During a segment on the show, Abdul sported a blonde wig along with a dark suit and sneakers (in Ellen’s typical fashion) and joked, “Why are you all staring at me?  Can’t a girl try out for a new job?”

As “American Idol” continues prepping for their new season, ex-judge Paula Abdul has voiced her support for her replacement Ellen DeGeneres.

The “Straight Up” songstress took to her Twitter page, saying, “I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on Idol.  She is wildly funny, talented, and I wish her the best of luck!”

Although she loves to dance, Ellen DeGeneres is using her love of music as an “American Idol” judge.

“I love music-period,” she explained to Ryan Seacrest in an interview earlier today. “And I’m a huge fan of the show. I haven’t missed one show since the beginning..I’m just a fan like everybody else.”

Making a big career move, Ellen DeGeneres has been chosen to replace Paula Abdul as the fourth judge on “American Idol”.

“I’m thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol,” DeGeneres told press. “I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text in my vote.”
