More details from David Letterman and the extortion case have been made public - and there is even more behind it.

On Tuesday, arguments from an attorney for defendant Robert Halderman, the CBS producer accused of trying to blackmail the talk show host with details about his affairs with women he worked with, brought on new questions.

According to the latest reports, $2 million wasn’t all that made Joe Halderman blackmail David Letterman – it was jealousy, spilled a source.

Back in August, Halderman found the host and his girlfriend Stephanie Birkitt, who was also his assistant, kissing while in a car in the driveway of his home.

As details continue to become known about the affair between David Letterman and “Late Show” staffer Stephanie Birkitt, there are reportedly “trashy” love letters that are soon to be uncovered.

According to a report, Burkitt wrote Letterman a series of notes prior to and during their trysts.  “It’s her musings about them.  It’s trash,” said an inside source.

David Letterman announced on Thursday that his on-air comments would be all he was going to speak about in regards to the $2 million extortion plot against him, but the topic filled his CBS Late Show on Monday.
