It’s not every day that an entertainment industry icon personally invites you to spend some time with him at his private beach resort.  And Britney Spears was happy to accept Mel Gibson’s invitation to get away for a couple of days.

Having landed at the San Jose Airport in Costa Rica on Thursday (Brit’s dad and Mel’s wife are also along for the trip) the “Gimme More” singer has been spotted enjoying herself and taking some time to just relax.

On vacation with actor Mel Gibson at his secluded ranch in Costa Rica, Britney Spears strapped on her two-piece bikini and hit the beach with friends on a Friday afternoon outing in paradise.

According to an eyewitness, “Britney looked relaxed as she sunbathed, ran into the water to play in the heavy waves and drove an ATV around the sand.”

Ever since Britney Spears began having personal difficulties, Mel Gibson has been a source of support and encouragement for her.  And now he’s taking her on vacation.

That’s right, the “Gimme More” singer will be joining the “Passion of the Christ” filmmaker at his Costa Rican home this weekend, along with her father and Mel’s wife.

In light of her recent personal and professional progress, it’s a shame that Britney Spears suffered a setback when she was involved in a fender bender yesterday in LA.

But she didn’t let that stop her from continuing on her road to success.  The “Gimme More” singer paid a visit to a Culver City physician to insure that she wasn’t seriously injured in her collision, but then it was back to business as usual.

Adding another black mark to her already sub-par driving record, Britney Spears was involved in a minor car accident Tuesday afternoon in Beverly Hills.

According to press reports, the Gimme More singer rear-ended a red Ford Explorer, with a witness telling People magazine: “I think she was just distracted. She just tapped the other car in front of her.”
