Katie Holmes Does Hairspray Sans Tom

Actress Katie Holmes walked down the red carpet in a form fitting black outfit, stealing the show last night. The younger half of TomKat was in NY for the premiere of HairSpray.

Holmes has close ties with several of the cast members of the movie, and her attendance at the premiere was even more notable due to the absence of her husband, Tom Cruise, who remained in Germany filming his next movie. It was often speculated whether we would ever see Katie sans Tom, and now one of life great mysteries has been solved.

Katie Holmes Treats Crew To Treats

In the busy world of moviemaking, it’s refreshing to see that there is still time to sit down and enjoy a cupcake. This is especially true if you’re working on Katie Holmes’ new movie Mad Money.

For the third Friday in a row, Mrs. Tom Cruise hooked the cast and crew (about 200 total) up with treats. “We got cupcakes,” one cast member told People magazine. “They were good, too.”

Travolta and Pfeiffer To Remake Hairspray

John Travolta will star in a remake of the film Hairspray. With Adam Shankman directing, the new film features Michelle Pfeiffer as the villainous TV station owner and mother of Tracy’s rival, Queen Latifah as the saucy record-shop owner Motormouth Maybelle, Amanda Bynes as Tracy’s best pal and Christopher Walken as Tracy’s dad and Edna’s husband.

Hairspray is the story of Tracy Turnblad, a Baltimore girl who takes a stand for civil rights in the Sixties by leading the charge to integrate a teen dance show on television. Travolta plays Tracy’s mom, Edna, and says even he got a shock the first time he saw a photo of himself in full make-up, with a huge bust and booty.

Katie Holmes Opts For Mad Money Over Batman Sequel

Now that making money seems to be of little concern to Katie Holmes, she has decided to turn down a $2 million project for one that pays her a mere $250,000. There have been many rumors on Batman sequel ‘Dark Knight’ role of Rachel Dawes, but it seems that the truth is starting to come to light.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Katie pulled out of the project this month, rejecting a salary estimated to be around $2 million. Holmes, who made $1 million for Batman Begins, pulled out of the project as her publicist claimed, “We never got to the negotiating stage.” Polkes said, “Katie was offered the role, but was unable to accept the role because of scheduling conflicts. She was in the process of negotiating for another project. In addition, when she returns to work, she would like to tackle a new character.”

Walker comments on: Reese Witherspoon Fights Domestic Violence in the UK

Good for her. I feel like domestic violence is the red-headed step-child of violence issues. It’s easy to speak out against government-induced famine, or wars that kill civilians, or rape. But domestic violence is a very sensitive issue because it is so common! I’m glad Reese is getting people talking.

Another voice brave enough to speak on domestic violence is that of Marala Scott, author of the book, “In Our House: Perception vs. Reality.” She is specifically interested in the “Indicators of an Abuser,” a tool she developed to help people recognize patterns in others (or in themselves) that might signify abusive tendencies in the future. Really fascinating stuff, that - you can see them here.

Keep up the good work, Reese!
