MuchMusic Awards: A Canadian Party

Those crazy Canadians sure can throw a party!  With celebrity appearances by Avil Lavigne, Hilary Duff, Tara Reid, Joss Stone and Fergie, the MuchMusic Video Awards was a star-studded event.

Unlike most awards shows, the MuchMusic Video Awards took place outdoors, in a carnival-esque atmosphere.  The stages were lined with fans waiting to get a glimpse of Maroon 5, Sum 41, and Canadian sweetheart Avril Lavigne.

Hilary Duff and Avril Lavigne Like Each Other

Despite constant reports of tension between the two, a feud between Hilary Duff and Avril Lavigne is nothing but talk, according to Miss Duff herself. The two are expected to run into one another at tonight’s Much Music Video Awards.

According to Nova Scotia News, “Duff says the multitude of tabloid reports detailing tantrums and tirades between the pair are complete fiction, insisting the chart rivals are nothing but friendly to each other.”

John Cusack:  Hilary Duff Is A Revelation

It’s always cool to see celebrities that are fans of other celebrities.  For instance, Hilary Duff apparently loves John Cusack as an actor, as was apparent by her reaction to seeing him after his new film premiered.

The 19-year-old singer/actress bolted toward the 1408 star at a industry party for the opening of Cusack’s new horror movie.  “She walked in holding hands with her sister Haylie.  But the moment she saw John, she ran up to him gushing about how much she loved the movie and him,” said a witness.

Hilary Duff Keeps It Real

The Hollywood scene has a tendency of chewing up nice girls and spitting out psycho divas.  But Hilary Duff isn’t playing that game.  She’s maintained her sanity, sobriety and a healthy perspective on life.

Duff keeps a level head and it has made all the difference.  “I’m not going to stop doing what I love because I’m afraid of breaking down. But I’ve seen how easily it happens. My sister, Haylie, and I used to live in this apartment complex with lots of young Hollywood stars. I watched lots of famous people earning too much and getting into trouble. I saw people lose everything. Thankfully, I haven’t fallen into that trap.”

Hilary Duff has been quiet the past few days - as far as making headlines are concerned. This doesn’t mean that “The Material Girls” star isn’t keeping herself busy, as she’s been spotted out and about all over town the past few days.

Coming on the heels of a nasty run-in with nemesis Avril Lavigne at Maxim’s Hot 100 bash, Hilary went on a little shopping adventure with her big sister Haylie on Tuesday (May 22).
