Rounding out the weekend with a star-studded shindig, the 2015 American Music Awards took over the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles last night (November 22).
Leading the pack with three wins (including Song of the Year and Album of the Year) was Taylor Swift, though her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles and his One Direction bandmates nabbed Favorite Group and Artist of the Year honors.
His latest release Purpose is burning up the charts, and it turns out Justin Bieber has considerably higher first-week sales than One Direction's Made in the A.M., which hit stores on the same day, November 13th.
With 522,000 units sold, the “What Do You Mean” crooner has the best-selling album of 2015 and the most for a male artist since the 2013 offering from Eminem. Meanwhile, One Direction moved a respectable 402,000 copies, though both 1D and Bieber may be in for a rude awakening when Adele’s sales figures for 25 are added up!
Sure, their latest single “Perfect” sounds an awful lot like Taylor Swift’s “Style,” but that’s not stopping One Direction from promoting the heck out of it.
Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan released the official music video on Tuesday (October 21) after Mr. Payne’s sudden illness forced the cancellation of the group’s concert in Belfast.
Happy Friday, One Direction fans! Harry, Niall, Liam and Louis just served up a brand new ditty called “Perfect” and it’s nothing short of incredible.
The latest track is on the forthcoming album Made in the A.M., slated to hit stores on November 13th and earlier today Niall tweeted, “You like it? The reaction has been amazing all day so far. Thank you.”
Following the announcement that they’re going on hiatus this coming March, the members of One Direction have shared that part of the break will include a “lads’ holiday.”
Louis Tomlinson told “Good Morning Britain,” “There's no doubt we'll see plenty of each other, we're gonna plan to go on a little lads' holiday. Actually it's just the day to day things (I'll miss), we are like a family now, so it's the company that you're used to, it's like leaving school and leaving your friends behind."
Wrapping up their On The Road Again North American tour, the members of One Direction offered up some heartfelt gratitude on Saturday night (September 12).
Harry Styles took to his Twitter account following his band’s gig at Gillette Stadium in Boston, Massachusetts, stating, “Thank you Boston. That was the perfect way to wrap up the U.S. Tour. Thank you to everyone who works to make the shows happen. Thanks for spending some time with us. It’s been an amazing tour, can’t thank you enough. Thanks for having us. All the love.”
