Earlier this week he quit one of the most successful boy bands of all time and now Zayn Malik is ready to talk about his One Direction departure.
In a new interview with The Sun, the “Best Song Ever” singer stated, “It is crazy and wild and a bit mad, but at the same time I’ve never felt more in control in my life. I feel like I’m doing what’s right — right by myself and right by the boys, so I feel good. I did try to do something that I wasn’t happy doing for a while, for the sake of other people’s happiness. And that was mainly for the fans. I only ever tried to do it for the fans.”
Harry Styles Tears Up During Jakarta Concert Due To Zayn Malik’s Departure
Millions of fans were saddened by news that Zayn Malik had left One Direction on Wednesday (March 25) and later that night Harry Styles couldn’t contain his emotion while performing in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The handsome crooner began crying during the gig, prompting Liam Payne to put his arm around him while Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan kept singing.
Last week he shocked fans by bowing out of One Direction’s current tour and now Zayn Malik says he’s done with the “Best Song Ever” group for good.
The 22-year-old pop star released a statement, explaining, “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologize to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
Earlier this week he shocked fans by jumping off the current One Direction tour, and now Zayn Malik also has his bandmates worried.
According to an Us Weekly source, "The members are worried about him and his future with the group. We've been close to this moment a few times but when people started coming for his relationship with Perrie it really spooked him."
There have been rampant rumors of person troubles for months, and Zayn Malik has now officially quit the current One Direction tour and flown back home to England.
The temporary departure comes just as the Philippine Government’s Bureau of Immigration demanded that Zayn and bandmate Louis Tomlinson pay a $5,000 “weed bond” to ensure that they don’t do drugs during their weekend of concerts. Then again, Mr. Malik has long been believed to be battling addiction.
It’s no secret that musicians like to party, but the Philippine government isn’t willing to let One Direction go nuts during their pair of concerts in Manila this weekend.
Given that Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were supposedly caught on camera smoking marijuana last year, an anti-drug advocacy group called Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino tried to get the Bureau of Immigration to give the whole band drug tests in order for them to enter the country.
They have a bit of a reputation for partying, and the members of One Direction may have hit a road block as they gear up for a pair of concerts in the Philippines.
According to multiple reports, Liam, Harry, Zayn, Louis and Niall are slated to perform on March 21st and 22nd at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, but the Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino group has requested that the Philippine government’s Bureau of Immigration require the band to submit to drug tests before being allowed into the country.
