She’s always been a strong advocate for humanitarian causes, and now Angelina Jolie has been named the Special Envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” actress, who recently got engaged to Brad Pitt, is now at the level of a diplomat for the UNHCR which means she’ll be working with other diplomats and governments.
UNHCR spokesman Adrian Edwards told press, "In her new role, she is expected to focus on large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people."
"I don't think you need a rocket scientist to see the benefits that she is bringing in terms of the attention that she is getting for the plight of the world's displaced."
