The 2008 Screen Actors Guild awards have come and gone, and the winners of this year's ceremony took even the biggest movie buffs by surprise.
The top honors for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role went to Daniel Day Lewis for his role in There Will Be Blood, while the top leading lady ended up being Julie Christie for her work in Away From Her.

Officially, the Academy claims to be moving ahead with the red carpet and awards ceremony as usual, with spokeswoman Leslie Unger telling press: "We are planning to have our show at the Kodak Theatre with an audience of 3,300 people and a television audience significantly larger than that."
