Earlier today (January 10) the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced their nominations for the 2013 Academy Awards, and though there were plenty of deserving recipients, other supposed shoo-ins ended up getting the shaft.
Though he was widely praised for his role in “Django Unchained,” Leonardo DiCaprio failed to snag a Best Supporting Actor nod.
Additionally, Ben Affleck was shut out of both the Best Actor and Best Director running for his phenomenal work on “Argo,” leaving fans a bit bewildered.
Marion Cotillard missed out on Best Actress for “Rust and Bone,” “Skyfall” got skipped for Best Picture, and Kathryn Bigelow was passed over for Best Director, though “Zero Dark Thirty” is running for Best Picture.
Other embarrassing oversights included Christopher Nolan, “The Intouchables,” “Rise of the Guardians,” Matthew McConaughey, and Tom Hooper.
